Join Centrepoint Church as we plant a church in one of the most gospel-resistant nations in Europe. Though steeped in religious tradition, Copenhagen is one of the most unreached cities in the world.
An Accidental Layover
In 1992, Tom and Jean Jackson were returning from Ukraine and due to their flight itinerary had an overnight stay in Copenhagen, Denmark. After checking into the hotel, they walked to the city center with their four-month-old daughter and got pizza for dinner. After eating, they stood on the pedestrian street and were overwhelmed by the number of people coming and going. Tom turned to Jean and said, “We have to plant a church here!”
Better late than never!
Thirty-two years later in 2024, Tom and Jean led the Centrepoint staff team on a scouting trip to Copenhagen. This four-day trip focused on research in key areas including university campuses, family life, community life, social patterns, spirituality, and church. The team had conversations, conducted interviews, met with locals, and learned about the city. Further, the team spent much time in prayer. They concluded what Tom expressed in 1992 – “We have to plant a church here!”

Denmark is perennially ranked as one of the top five happy nations in the world.
Denmark has a mixed economy – its competitive free-market economy is highly socialized. As the government takes care of so much, there is little to be unhappy about.
Our gospel conversations revealed a gap behind happiness: while people are happy, there seems to be a lack of purpose or a sense of destiny.
Denmark has an intense gospel need: several pastors confirmed that the total number of Bible-believing Christians is around two thousand people. For a city with a population of approximately 800,000, that is .0025%: 2.5 out of every 1,000 people is a Christian.
What we’re doing
We believe the Lord is leading us to plant a church in Copenhagen, Denmark. We will conduct a series of scouting, mission, and ministry trips over the next 18 months to lay a foundation for this church plant. As momentum grows, we will establish an outreach group with a monthly worship gathering.
