Tom & Jean Jackson

Church Planters in Europe, Pioneers in Scotland

Tom and his wife, Jean, were trained and served as campus ministers at UNC-Chapel Hill in the 1980s. Tom studied history and grew up reading about the need for the gospel in Eastern Europe through books like God's Smuggler. He & Jean responded to God's missionary call in Europe through a short-term mission trip to Poland in 1990. That trip sparked a church planting ministry in Ukraine. Initially traveling back and forth to minister, Tom, Jean, and their first two daughters moved to Ukraine in 1995 and lived there for 4 1/2 years. Tom oversaw the planting of multiple churches in western Ukraine, most of which are still growing and thriving today.

Before leaving Ukraine, God began speaking to Tom about the larger ministry of church planting in Europe. Tom's first step was establishing the Centre for European Church Planting (CECP) which he still oversees. Jean began to sense God's calling back to Europe too, so the Jacksons along with their now 6 daughters moved to Scotland to plant a congregation in Edinburgh (2005) followed by one in Bathgate (2008) where they live. Tom is the lead pastor of Centrepoint Church, one church with two congregations.

Tom earned his Ph.D. at the University of Manchester with a dissertation on international, cross-cultural church planting. Dr. Tom Jackson serves on Every Nation's European Regional Leadership Team and currently serves on the faculty of Every Nation Seminary as a professor of theology and mission.

Tom and Jean now enjoy the addition of 2 sons-in-law and 2 grandsons in their family.
